The Committee

Rougham Acorns and Woodlands is a registered charity and as such it requires a committee of volunteers to remain open, alongside it's fantastic team of staff.

​

The committee organises fundraising events across the year, and connects and represents the parents and guardians who use the services of Rougham Acorns and Woodlands - Preschool, Wraparound Care & Holiday Club.

​

The committee is also responsible for reviewing policies and procedures, reviewing finances and Ofsted reports, and are registered with Ofsted, The Charity Commission and Companies House.


However, we are very fortunate to have less pressure than similar committees at other settings, as we have our Manager, Bookkeeper and Coordinator who work extremely hard to fulfil, run and manage these responsibilities day-to-day – but we still require a full volunteer committee.
 


So, Who are we?:

 

The Chair

This person leads the committee, arranges the meetings and agendas, oversees projects and targets, and manages the decision making of the committee. Their role also includes working with staff, including the Manager, Coordinator and Bookkeeper. Good organisational and people skills are well suited to the role, and some time is needed to be given to responsibilities outside of the committee meetings.

The Vice Chair

This person supports the Chair in their duties – helping with logistics and communications, as well as project and team management.

 

The Secretary

This person is responsible for collecting and distributing all paperwork relating to committee meetings, as well as writing and distributing the minutes of each meeting. This person works closely with the Coordinator.

​

The Treasurer

This person is responsible for overseeing the financial position of the setting by working closely with the Bookkeeper and aiding them as needed.

​

What will be expected as a Committee Member?
•    Attend committee meetings – typically once per half term
•    Review material and documentation
•    Register with Ofsted, The Charity Commission and Companies House
•    Represent the voices of the parents/ users of the setting
•    Maintain confidentiality
•    Help contribute towards fundraising activities and maintenance projects

Every October we hold our AGM where new members can join the committee, and start planning the next year's fundraising events and tasks.
